South Henry Family,
This weekend, we were contacted by detectives from the Henry County Sheriff’s Department regarding threats made by a juvenile from an off-campus location via a virtual platform. The juvenile made a bomb threat directed at our school and had also threatened to shoot another juvenile student. It is important to note that the juvenile who made the threats has not been in attendance at Tri Jr. Sr. High School during the regular school day since October 5th, 2023.
Out of an abundance of caution, Henry County Sheriff’s Deputies and school administration did a sweep of the building today and found nothing of concern. The Sheriff’s Department has indicated that the juvenile in question is currently detained in a juvenile facility and poses no current danger to our school family.
We are extremely grateful for the swift and decisive actions of the Henry County Sheriff’s Department to protect our most precious assets, our children. We are also thankful for the individual/s who reported the statement to the appropriate authorities. We all have an obligation if we “see something” concerning to “say something” to an individual that we trust. This is true even if we are not sure a threat is credible. Rest assured, any actions and posts on social media, messaging, and other digital mediums are, and will continue to be, taken seriously by the district.
In closing, I want to personally assure all of our Titan students, parents, community members, and staff that we will continue to make every effort to ensure that our schools are safe and secure.
We expect more information to be released by the Sheriff’s Department in a press release soon.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Duncan
Superintendent, South Henry School Corporation
